There are over a 106,000 people in the U.S. waiting for an organ transplant as of April 5, 2010. Approximately 4,100 new transplant candidates are added to the national waiting list each month. Sadly, 18 to 19 people die each day waiting for an organ that doesn't become available because there is such a shortage. This doesn't have to be.
