ADOPT A CAT OR DOG FROM COZUMEL!
Dear Betsy,
Have you had a chance to view our Cozumel Dogs and Cats slideshow?
We're thrilled that we've already received some adoption applications. Our application deadline of June 30th is only a few days away, so please get your application in as soon as possible.
You may recall the heartbreaking story of these dogs and cats - many of them had come from the dump or from the streets of Cozumel, Mexico.
Thanks to the generosity of supporters like you, IFAW was able to rescue these animals and bring them to the Humane Society of Cozumel shelter, where they joined many other animals that IFAW and HSC had already rescued from abuse and neglect on the streets of Cozumel.
Unfortunately, the addition of the animals from the dump has overstretched the small shelter's resources and is limiting them from rescuing other needy animals.
After careful consideration, we have decided that the best option is to find new homes outside of Cozumel for some of these special dogs and cats.
Cloud Nine Animal Rescue Flights, a charity dedicated to providing flights of mercy for those in need, has offered to fly the animals from Cozumel to Colorado. And the Longmont Humane Society in Longmont, Colorado has offered to shelter seven of these dogs.
Now all that's left is to find new "forever" homes for the remaining dogs and cats.
Could you open your heart to a Cozumel dog or cat looking for a new home?
We've had a lot of traffic to our slideshow of all the adoptable dogs and cats - please click here to see it. If one of these animals and its special story seems like a match for you, please submit an adoption application for a dog or a cat.
This truly is a rare opportunity to make a hands-on connection with IFAW's projects, and to make a personal difference for one of these special animals.
Please note that we will be making every effort to match these animals, some of whom have special concerns, with the best home for them.
Whether you've recently thought about getting a new family pet, or are particularly moved by the plight of these Cozumel dogs and cats, please consider adding one of them to your family.
And if you know someone else who might be interested in adopting one of these dogs, please pass on this email.
Thank you,
Fred O'Regan
IFAW President
