Straight from antislavery.org's website:
State-sponsored forced labour, particularly of children, underpins the cotton industry in Uzbekistan. Each year, schools are closed down for the duration of the cotton harvest and children, some as young as ten years old, are forced to pick cotton by hand for little or no pay. Children who refuse to work or fail to meet their targets are punished by beatings and can be threatened with expulsion from school. Human rights groups estimate that up to 200,000 children are involved each year.  READ MORE..

Directly from the website of cleanclothes.org: The companies who set the standards in today’s global garment industry – including multinational retailers like Carrefour, Tesco, Walmart, Aldi and Lidl – have a responsibility to ensure that the workers who make the clothes they sell are paid a living wage. Anything less means directly profiting from their poverty and hunger. READ FULL ARTICLE

I ran across this quote by R.T. Fitch today. It touched my heart!

Directly from Fitch's website: "Close your eyes, inhale deeply, listen intently, and bask in the ambiance of the smell of hay, the sound of a horse’s nicker, and the warmth that comes to your heart when in the presence of our spiritual cousins, the Horse."

Another quote from Fitch's website: "This site is the virtual barn, the counter part to the physical barn where author R.T. Fitch listens, contemplates, and shares the teachings of those who cannot speak for themselves."

Check out my new page Straight From The Horse's Heart about protecting our wild horses. A must read for any horse and animal lover.

Interesting website worth checking out
This youtube report is so worth watching. It shows how news stories are bought and sold and buried or aired at the mercy of the all mighty dollar. It's a practice that's been going on for years ....

There's such inhumane corruption in the world. It's an integral part of the fabric of the human condition, isn't it? We're stitched together by greed and monumentally unethical practices. Sigh... I know there is good and that there are good people. It's not all dark. And there's such beauty in nature. But massive greed is undeniable...

I posted information on Goodweave under FEATURED BLOGS today, but thought it was important to post here because it's such a great program with critically valuable information to learn and share about child slavery in the rug/carpet industry.

photo from Goodweave
Nearly 250,000 South Asian children are exploited to weave carpets for American homes. GoodWeave's Campaign to End Child Labor works to stop this illegal practice by educating consumers, interior designers and the carpet industry about child-labor-free rugs.

"Dedicated to turning indifference into making a difference... "

I'm an artist, writer, photographer and private investigator. And not always in that order. I'm also an activist in small ways. Throughout my site I will post information about MODERN DAY SLAVERY and ANIMAL
TRAFFICKING and offer ways we can all take part to end both. I'm passionate about these issues. What greater atrocity is there on this planet than to sell a human life and brutally force him or her  into a life in the sex trade or endless labor? And how dare we abuse, kill and traffic animals in the name of profit... in the name of anything for any reason!
