Betsy Seeton - Private Investigator
Betsy graduated Cum Laude from Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado with a Bachelor's degree in Business and completed one year of graduate courses with a 4.0 GPA in Criminal Justice from Washington State University. While in graduate school in Spokane, she trained to become a Court Appointed Special Advocate (C.A.S.A), during which time she investigated alleged child abuse cases.
Before her career as an investigator and writer, Betsy owned and operated a consignment shop and launched a clothing design company called Rethreads utilizing second hand fabrics. Her designer vests and jackets were sold in Dallas, Chicago, Telluride and Aspen. During this same time, she and her husband also co-owned the first snowboard shop to be located on the ski slopes of Mt. Crested Butte.
After a successful 12-year run in retail, she sold her interest in the businesses and went on to write for an online magazine called Careerbay.com where she investigated employment related stories until the company went belly up during the dot com crash.
She held an elected position as a steering committee member for a non-profit organization where she ran public information campaigns, organized conferences, designed and co-wrote newsletters and wrote for a weekly newspaper on water law and conservation.
Betsy received an ABA approved paralegal certificate from Denver Career College. Her first work after graduating was with the Alternate Defense Counsel (ADC) of the State of Colorado where she began working both as a contract paralegal and private investigator. She is also approved by the 10th Circuit Court as a Criminal Justice Act paralegal and private investigator for the defense on Federal cases.
She has investigated a wide array of cases including: drug dealing, rape, murder, attempted murder, sexual assault of minors, immigration violations, domestic violence, DRAM shop, hit-n-run, slip-n-falls, traffic accidents, and wrongful termination.
