In an interview with Jasper, Livehonestly reporter, B.Seeton asked Jasper about his reaction to the new law, "It's a step in the right direction," Jasper said, "... though I don't like the fact that the law is aimed at protecting the human consumer versus the victims -- the dogs and cats -- who are terribly abused by certain breeders. But I don't want to seem ungrateful."
"Non-violence leads to the highest ethics,
which is the goal of all evolution. Until we stop harming all other
living beings, we are still savages." -
This was Jasper at the start of the summer listening intently to animal activists speaking out. It was this rally where he was first inspired to get involved in animal welfare.

"The animals of the world exist for their own reasons. They were not made for humans any more than black people were made for white, or women created for men." ~Alice Walker
The source of the quote is Walker's preface to Marjorie Spiegel's 1988 book, "The Dreaded Comparison" . Her next sentence was, "This is the gist of Ms. Spiegel's cogent, humane and astute argument, and it is sound."
"I was so moved by the intelligence, sense of fun and personalities of the animals I worked with on (the movie) Babe that by the
end of the film I
was a vegetarian."
